Operating Procedures for the Preparation of Test Samples for Refractories

The preparation of test sample for refractories is divided into the preparation of test sample for shaped refractories and the preparation of test sample for amorphous refractories.

1. Steps for the preparation of shaped refractories:

Preparation of raw materials→Batching according to the design program→Mixing (15-20 minutes) →Storage of slip→Mechanical pressing→Drying of molding body→Sintering of molding body→Completion of test sample preparation for performance test

2. Steps for the preparation of amorphous refractories (including castables, plastic refractories, ramming mass, etc.):

Preparation of raw materials→Batching according to the design program→Stirring (6-10 minutes)→Molding (through vibration casting, or ramming) →Demolding curing→Heat treatment→ Completion of test sample preparation for performance test

Note: 1) To keep relevant equipment and tools clean and tidy; 2) To apply oil on the molds; 3) For the test sample of shaped refractories, the fine powder shall be pre-mixed before mixing; 4) Each batching shall not be less than 10kg.
